Tips
Ofteringen Castle (now Marienburg Monastery) was first mentioned in 1240. It was the ancestral home of the Lords of Ofteringen. After their extinction it fell to the Rheinau monastery. In 1862 it was leased by 4 Benedictine women and the monastery was founded. The nuns later acquired the property and fields. The monastery is still inhabited today and there is a small shop where you can buy products from the monastery. See also: kloster-ofteringen.de/klosterladen
