Kardinal-Degenhardt-Platz is surrounded on one side by water and on the other side by the city library. A nice place to just sit there in the shadow of Doms ...

The city library's property is located in the Pader spring area. It is framed by the Geißel Garden and the watercourses of the Pader. In front of the main entrance is Kardinal-Degenhardt-Platz, a spacious square of approx. 1500m². The area at the back with a good 750m² was in a kind of sleeping beauty state with tall, wild vegetation. Paved areas are used as parking spaces and for garbage disposal. The barrier-free entrance can be found here, but it leads through the basement of the library.

With such a literary highlight, I absolutely have to quote the humorist Heinz Erhardt (1909 - 1979), who I admire and who was known to a wide audience for his word jokes and "Noch'n poem":
        "I once found a finch's nest,
and in the same lay the rest
        from a crime novel.
        Now take a look:
        The finch could read!
No wonder it was a chaffinch."
        (H.Erhardt)
