Construction of this building began in 1506 using donations raised for this purpose. In the 17th century it had a choir and four side chapels. The monastery was destroyed in a fire in 1810 and did not return to its former glory afterwards. The church is classified as Real Santuario (Royal Sanctuary). Inside, you can admire the wooden figure of Santísimo Cristo de La Laguna, associated with the Flemish school, which is highly revered in the Canaries. Her altar is made of embossed silver.
