The river Wey has served as a vital artery for Surrey for hundreds of years, powering mills and transporting goods. Today, this tributary of the Thames is home to diverse wildlife and biodiversity. Its waters are popular with kayakers, hikers and cyclists. The river has a total catchment ara of 350 sq mi (904 sq km), spreading across Surrey and into Hampshire and West Sussex.
