Hiking

The Nachtigallental is one of the most beautiful routes from Königswinter up to Drachenburg Castle and the Drachenfels ruins. This is a ravine flanked by steep slopes that runs along the banks of a stream. In some places holes can be seen in the slopes. These are entrances to cavities where wine used to be stored.

The Beethovenwanderweg is demanding, as many sections of the route lead up and down steeply in places - parts of the Rheinsteig are often included! This is compensated by the great views, the opportunity to stop and the mixture of cultural sites and geological features along the way.
