+ In 1415 a hospital was built in Geldern. The chapel belonging to it was dedicated to the Holy Spirit.
+ In 1530 a serious fire in the city destroyed the Holy Spirit Chapel for the first time.
+ In 1703 Geldern was conquered by Prussian troops. This was the beginning of the actual history of the Reformed community. The Holy Spirit Chapel was officially handed over to the Reformed community, which consisted mainly of Prussian soldiers and officials.
+ In 1735 the explosion of the powder tower destroyed the Holy Spirit Church for the second time.
