In 1104, Tiefthal was first mentioned in a document. In 1361 the village came under the control of the Mainz governorate in Erfurt, which used it as a kitchen village. Like Erfurt, Tiefthal belonged to Kurmainz (Erfurt state) until 1802 and then to Prussia from 1815 to 1945. On July 1, 1994, the Tiefthal community was dissolved and incorporated into the city of Erfurt as a district (Wikipedia).
