Nice rustic park with a forest cemetery and an old monument

After the construction of castles was weakened by the invention of firearms and extensive social changes began in the Renaissance, the building activities of the nobility shifted to the homeliness and representation. Castles became castles. And castles and parks were ideal for demonstrating the power and wealth of their owners. In the 16th century, Duke Julius 1568-1589 and his son Duke Heinrich Julius 1589-1613 converted the castle complex in Wolfenbüttel into a representative residential palace. Additional locks were added: as secondary residences, widows' residences or through inheritance. The sunken castle and its park are located in the scenic Oker- and Ilsenau in the southwest of Kissenbrück (Samtgemeinde Elm-Asse) in the Wolfenbüttel district, owned by the Bennecke family.
