Surely the route of choice up to the Dyke if coming from the Shoreham direction! Well surfaced and nice constant gradient, and a bit of history too. Just not that easy to find (at least, not for me as first-timer)

Here is an alternative to going on the main road. It is tarmac and has been done on 28mm tyres after a rainy day. It also follows a regional route 82 which is also signposted and easy to follow.

Easy cycling, it was a rail line after all. Mostly tarmac/gravel.
Shops and pub at the Hangleton end.
