The Haxter Warte is also called Lichtenturm, a former Wartturm southeast of the city, which was probably built in the 15th century and was part of the Landwehr around Paderborn. After being accidentally blown up in 1945, the reconstruction took place in 1986 as a 9 m high lookout tower. (Source: Wickipedia)

Lichtenturm (Haxter Warte) The Lichtenturm is part of the medieval “Warte”, a control and protection structure that surrounded Paderborn in a wide radius. Natural obstacles such as rivers and streams were supplemented by dense hedges, palisades and ramparts. Watchtowers were also built on hilltops to improve the all-round view.
