The Berne Park in Bottrop is a special kind of industrial monument: wastewater has been treated here for almost forty years. Then the plant with the two circular basins and the machine house was shut down and was almost forgotten until the Emschergenossenschaft decided to revitalize it as a place of industrial culture. From the former, inaccessible sewage treatment plant, a park that is open to the public was created as part of EMSCHERKUNST.2010, the largest art project in the 2010 Capital of Culture.
There is a restaurant in the engine house and the Park Hotel: five sewer pipes converted into suites, three meters long and 2.40 meters in diameter.
Period from May 1st to September 30th - Another special feature is: Pay as you want!

Cyclists, hikers, walkers and idlers on the Emscher Cycle Path experience unusual event catering in the BernePark in the former machine house.
The old machine house now houses a restaurant with a special flair. When you enter, you can take a deep breath. Because large rotundas create a light-flooded atmosphere. Inside the house, parts of the former machine system have been lovingly preserved as a decorative highlight.

It is always worthwhile to take a break here. Unfortunately, the restaurant and the beer garden on Saturday only from 15 o'clock open.
Worth seeing are the unusual accommodations.
