Pângarati Lake is a natural area of special avifaunistic protection that corresponds to the 4th category IUCN (aquatic type nature reserve), located in Neamț county on the administrative territory of Pangărați commune.
The area is located in the central-south-western part of Neamț county along the Bistrița river, between the Stânișoarei Mountains - located to the north and the Goșmanu-Geamăna Mountains from the Tarcău Mountains - to the south, to the east of the village of Pângarați, near the portion of Bicaz - Piatra Neamț of the national road DN15.
The nature reserve (with an area of 135 hectares), was declared a protected area by Government Decision no.2151 of November 30, 2004 (regarding the establishment of the protected natural area regime for new areas) and represents an artificial dam lake set up in 1964 on the middle course of the Bistrița river, with hydropower purpose.
Its altitude is 370.6 m, the length of the water lily is 3700 m, the width is 730 m and the maximum depth is 14 m.
