Causey Pike

Causey Pike

Recommended by 92 hikers

Causey Pike’s familiar summit profile is part of the furniture on the Keswick scene, as beloved and revered as that of Catbells, Skiddaw and Grisedale Pike. Hikes to Causey Pike are therefore very popular, and with good reason: this is an absolutely delightful fell. Its summit’s distinctive rocky knolls mark it out from the rest as a hill of great personality and charm.

Superb ridge walking and a distinctive rocky summit

Causey Pike is one of the best known Lakeland fells, because of its recognisable nobbly shape which forms part of the magnificent lakeside landscape from the shores of Derwentwater. The nobbly bit is a rocky crag which means that, it presents a rewarding climb with some scrambling to reach the top.

Oh I do love the nobbly bobbly humps on Causey Pike! It's such an iconic fell and recognisable from most angles because of its undulating ridge. I thoroughly enjoy the short scramble to this top of this 2,090-foot (637 m) mountain when hiking it from the east.

Like adventure Nic, I love the lumpy dragons back ridge on Causey Pike and how the footpath threads its way across the ridgeline. Especially beautiful on a blue sky day like today.
