Hiking Highlight
Nice vantage point. If you stand at the very front and look down (no head for heights) you will see a few rocks that rise up like the bone plates of a Stegosaurus.

Vertically erected shale formations give the rock its name, because in fact they resemble a dinosaur.

The Wispertalsteig circumnavigates the Höhenluftkurort in a large arc with several loops. Deeply cut valleys, enchanted forests, disused slate tunnels and fascinating long-distance views ensure a change of pace. If you want, you can break off the tour on the Mehrholzer Höhe halfway and sneak back to the village.
The entire route is well signposted and is at a length of 15.5km which is easily feasible in about hours! Who thinks on the Mehrholzer height to the way back puts about 7.5 km total back!
Can be parked in town! There is an extra parking space directly at the track!

From the Sauerbornbach a very steep climb leads up to the rock. Alternatively, you can take a longer but more moderate route if you follow the valley further up. But the steep route is more rustic.

From the Sauerbornbachtal you can either take a short but very steep path or take a longer, flatter path up to the Saurierfelsen. The rock is called because of its similarity to the back of a Stegosaurus dinosaur rock.

Rocky mountain spur, a delightful climbing tour as an alternative ascent route!

From here you have a great view and the rock is a great photo opportunity. If you walk the climb counter-clockwise, it then goes quite steeply downhill into the Sauerborntal
