Saint Hubert, to whom this Udenbrether chapel was dedicated, lived from 655 to 727 and is a very popular saint, best known as the patron saint of hunters. A stag with a glowing cross between its antlers is said to have appeared to him, which is often shown in Hubertus portraits. This legend was originally attributed to Saint Eustace and over time 'migrated' to Hubertus. His memorial day in the calendar of saints is November 3rd.

Nothing further is known about the first church in Udenbreth. This building was renovated in 1730, but closed in 1823 due to dilapidation. The service was then held in the neighboring villages of Ramscheid and Rescheid. In the meantime there was a plan to build a common parish church for the villages of Udenbreth and Rescheid in Kamberg, located in between. After this plan was rejected, the old Udenbreth church was torn down except for the tower in 1828. Under the direction of municipal architect Christian Wilhelm Ulich, a new single-nave church in the classicism style was built in 1832, which was added to the old tower. This church fell into disrepair and was demolished in the 1900s. In 1910, a new parish church was built in the neo-Romanesque architectural style. The Cologne architect Franz Statz made the plans. During the Second World War, the church was so badly damaged during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944 that only the outer walls of the nave and the choir remained standing.

During the reconstruction, it was decided to preserve the outer walls of the nave and choir. The reconstruction was carried out between 1948 and 1951 according to plans by the Olefer architect Norbert Hieronymi, who incorporated the existing walls into the new building. The consecration of the new church took place on August 12, 1951. The church was renovated between 1969 and 1970. Source: Wikipedia
