This Zehren'er church is dedicated to the Archangel Michael, the name (coming from Hebrew) means "Who is like God?". He is often depicted - on paintings or as a statue - with a flaming sword or lance. Michael is - together with Raphael, Gabriel and Uriel - one of the four archangels who (according to human imagination) occupy the highest rank in the heavenly hierarchy of angelic beings. Their common feast day in the saints calendar is September 29th.

The St. Michaelis Church in Zehren was built from 1756, endured difficult times during the Seven Years' War and was only completed in 1787. Renovations took place in 1839, 1891, 1930 and 1984/85. The church houses a baroque organ and restored epitaphs. Today it serves as a spiritual center for the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Zehren.
