The idea of building the colonnade courtyard goes back to Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the architect of the first museum on the Museum Island, whose painting "View of Greece's Blossom" (National Gallery) already formulates a similar concept. The inner courtyard was designed in 1880 by the zoo director at the time, Eduard Neide, and is a registered garden monument and part of the UNESCO World Heritage.

The colonnade courtyard is located on Museum Island.
The courtyard is surrounded by three colonnades and the Old National Gallery and offers a great atmosphere. There are numerous bronze sculptures, a fountain and some seating that invite you to linger.
The inner courtyard was designed in 1880 by the zoo director at the time, Eduard Neide, and is a registered garden monument and part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
