St. Catherine's Monastery is one of the oldest monasteries in Christendom and is located in the southern Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. According to late antique Christian pilgrimage tradition, the summit of nearby Jebel Musa was the site where Moses is said to have received the Ten Commandments from God.
