The qasr Abbas Basha is the ruin of a castle erected on the gebel Abbas Pasha which culminates at 2,283 meters above sea level.

In a notebook, I wrote about its surprising story: "Abbas Pasha, grandson of the great reformer Mehemet Ali of Egypt, ordered the construction of this palace, on the plans of a real fortress, for reasons mainly Won by tuberculosis, he thought that a life at altitude would be beneficial for his state of health. He died before the completion of the construction which, de facto, was interrupted. Today, only rare ruins remained. The panoramic view of Sainte-Catherine is fantastic."
