Former Freihof and last preserved manor on the edge of the old town. In the core probably already built before 1400, today dominates v.a. the expressive Renaissance stepped gable from the 16th century the appearance. Owned by the Lindenau family since 1742 and home to the probably most important Altenburger: Bernhard August von Lindenau was a politician, astronomer and art collector, he laid the foundation for the important collection of the Lindenau-Museum.

The building is surrounded by the remains of the former park with exceptionally beautiful and large solitary trees.
