Near the famous "Yasaka Pagoda" in Higashiyama there is a small temple with the official name "Daikoku-san Kongo-ji Koshin-do", but it is most often referred to as "Yasaka Kōshindō". The colorful "Kukurizaru", a spherical monkey on which the wishes of visitors are written, hangs in many places in the temple. A popular and beautiful photo subject.

The Yasaka Shrine, or Yasaka-jinja as it is called in Japanese (“jinja” means shrine), is absolutely stunning with its bright red and white colors! The shrine was built in 656 and is the guardian shrine of the Gion entertainment district in Kyoto.
