The climbing route is short but it's a challenge! From the wine press, it goes steeply up, ladders and steel cables included. The way back is more leisurely via vineyard paths.
Moselle Valley: Popular circular hiking trail
Alpine climbing fun on the Moselle! This is what the well-known Erdener Treppchen vineyard offers. The Erdener via ferrata is divided into three levels of difficulty. Hikers can choose whether they want to hike the green (2.9 km), yellow (3.8 km) or red (4.3 km) route. The respective colors are signposted throughout. On all paths, magnificent views of the Moselle Valley, a colorful variety of flora and fauna as well as small climbing units on the more challenging routes await. Insights into the hiking tour: An "alpine" experience: The challenging course of the climbing trail leads through the top vineyards "Erdener Treppchen" and "Prälat". You climb rocky outcrops and vineyard terraces using old vineyard paths and ladders. Your efforts are rewarded with magnificent views over the Moselle valley and a particularly colorful variety of flora and fauna such as stonecrop, wallflower and French maple. As part of the "Living Moselle Vineyards Initiative," this area has been awarded the title of "beacon of biodiversity." Along the way and at the end, there are benches and tables for resting and relaxing. Afterwards, you can stop off at restaurants or inns (including wineries) in Erden.

Grandiose climb through the steep Erdener Treppchen with several ladders, few safety ropes, stony and slippery trails and magnificent views of the Moselle loop under the Hochmosel bridge.
Definitely sturdy shoes! Medium risk of dizziness. NOT suitable for dogs! No bypassing the climbing passages! Bypass only completely via the high path above.

Beautiful, scenic path with a somewhat alpine character!
Particularly pleasant: Not as well known and therefore not as crowded as the Calmont via ferrata.
