Hiking Highlight
The stately church of Gröditz is the center of a large Evangelical Lutheran parish. The building itself was not erected until 1902, although the tower is significantly older. On the arch of the church portal and on the altar there are Sorbian inscriptions that testify to the Sorbian history of this part of Upper Lusatia.

The lower walls of the tower, which can be seen from afar, date from the time when it was still used for defensive purposes. The octagonal baroque structure and the tower dome were created around 1775.

I agree with the commentators - the church greets the surrounding area from afar, unfortunately it was closed - in contrast to the other churches on the ViaRegia pilgrimage route so far... 🤷♂️
