The castle on the left bank of the Rhine Stolzenfels is the lady among the castles. It was destroyed by the French and rebuilt from 1836 to 1842 by the architect Schinkel for the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm IV. A visit with sightseeing should definitely be planned. Not only the architecture inspires but also the interior design and the castle garden. From the castle garden the view sweeps on Lahnstein and on a part of Koblenz.

The castle on the left bank of the Rhine, which can be seen from afar in its light colour, differs from most of the buildings that one encounters in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley.

The Neo-Gothic Stolzenfels Castle was only built as a summer residence on behalf of the Prussian Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm at the beginning of the 19th century. The complex stands on a 13th-century Courier castle, which was destroyed in 1689.
