A special kind of garden monument is the 270 meter long unique Feston avenue made from Dutch linden trees. Their name is derived from the French word "Feston" (garland) and describes the way in which the trees are connected to one another in the form of ornaments or garlands. The castle and park are in a flat depression and are harmoniously embedded in the charming landscape of the Klützer Winkel. The park is designed as an English landscape garden that takes nature as its model and was designed in such a way that it integrated into the existing landscape.

This is really an impressive "wall". We only saw it from the outside on our bike tour, but another visit is certain!
And in beautiful sunshine, two bridal couples had been photographed at the same time.

Only four kilometers south of the Baltic Sea lies Bothmer Castle in the middle of an idyllic park. It owes its existence to the adventurous life of a man: Count Hans Caspar von Bothmer. At the peak of his career, the count lived in London - on legendary 10 Downing Street. From there he had the magnificent complex built in Klützer Winkel from 1726 and thus brought a piece of England to Mecklenburg.

The restaurant, built in the winter garden style - in a wonderful castle park atmosphere - offers fine, regionally influenced German cuisine.

The set 200 photos prove it, the castle is a visitor magnet. It can be easily reached from all directions by bike and on foot. Unfortunately, the castle shop has not reopened at the moment.

Biking is not allowed in the castle park - but you can park your bike and walk through the park.
The castle and park are impressively embedded in the landscape of the Klützer Winkel. They extend on an island surrounded by a closed moat based on the Dutch model. The garden is not the only place that attracts peace and idyll - for many summers the palace park has also served as a green backdrop for concerts that delight thousands.

The Festonallee at Bothmer Castle is one of the most famous sights in all of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The interplay of baroque architecture and landscape planning can be experienced in a particularly impressive way on a walk. Therefore, do not miss to cross the 270-meter-long ravine. If you then approach the palace complex, the flanking trees initially only give a view of the magnificent central axis of the main house. With each step, the field of vision expands bit by bit. Once in the courtyard, the splendor of the building can no longer be seen at a glance. It is a prime example of baroque staging that still has its full effect after 300 years and makes a visit to Bothmer unforgettable in every season.

The largest baroque palace complex in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was built between 1726 and 1732 by the then Count Hans Caspar von Bothmer and is one of the most famous and most visited sights in Klütz. The stately building is surrounded by a magnificent landscape park with imposing avenues and is framed by a moat.

Simply a castle well worth seeing. If it wasn't made of bricks, it could also stand on the Loire. Good local cafe!
