Klingenberg Castle, of which an astonishingly well-preserved ruin remains today, was built in the 11th century by the noble family of the Perg-Machländer. Enthroned on a steep cliff, it is laid out on three levels: There is an outer kennel with a stable, from which one can access the outer bailey via a round arched gate or the pedestrian gate. The well is now twelve meters deep, but once cracked the 118-meter mark. There is an imposing south curtain wall and a 24 meter high (meanwhile half collapsed) keep. A really impressive remnant of the region's long history.
