The farmhouses that you see here in Rudolstadt are also known as "Thuringian farmhouses" and are considered the oldest open-air museum in Germany.
The houses were built in the 17th and 18th centuries and removed from the surrounding villages in 1914/15 and rebuilt in the city park of Rudolstadt. Thanks to original furniture and everyday objects, the museum shows you very clearly what farm life was like in the Thuringian region. The establishment of the village pharmacy is particularly interesting.
The open-air museum also includes a picturesque courtyard. There is an open-air cinema and a theater in summer.

Built and handed over to the public in 1914. The Thuringian farmhouses in Rudolstadt consist of three houses from the 17th and 18th centuries.

Very nice place to relax and enjoy. Very nice old half-timbered houses. Where events sometimes take place. Right next door is a large, very beautiful park that also invites you to relax and enjoy.
