At Preysingplatz Haidhauser history is palpable: in front of St. John's Church stands almost inconspicuously the brick-making fountain, designed by Hans Osel in 1978, and reminds us that everything started here with the bricks. Since the Middle Ages loam was mined in Haidhausen and the surrounding area, burned to bricks and built from Munich, including the Frauenkirche. In large numbers were from the beginning Italian seasonal workers, mostly from Friuli, involved. The "Stampadore" paints the clay into the model, another worker carries the fired bricks to the construction site. - There are hardly any traces left of this industrial history today. The Protestant parish of St. John dates back to the Wilhelminian era after 1871, when Haidhausen quickly became a suburb and also attracted many Protestants. The church itself is a neo-Romanesque building from 1916. Inside with a central space and not geostet (which the municipality apparently suffers to this day), outside of course designed as exposed brickwork.
Directly opposite the brasserie "Chez Fritz" with classic bistro cuisine refers to the French quarter just around the corner - which is again a story of its own (see Pariser Platz, komoot.de/highlight/482047)
