Cala Goloritzé is one of the most fascinating beaches in Sardinia. Born from a landslide in 1962, it is renowned for its imposing Aguglia, which rises 143 meters above the bay. Another unique feature is the natural arch that opens on the right side of the beach.

Goloritzé can be reached by boat or via a path with a negative altitude difference of around 500 metres. Declared a natural monument of Sardinia in 1993, it was subsequently named a national monument in 1995.

The impressive nature fully compensates for the long descent. Really gorgeous!

This really is a dream beach. The walk there and back should not be underestimated, but definitely worth it.

Cala Goloritzè is a small, beautiful bathing bay surrounded by protective rocks in the east of Sardinia. A beautiful white pebble beach leads to its crystal-clear azure water.
We parked at the free car park "Su Porteddu".
"Entry" to Cala Goloritzè €6 per person.
We were there at the beginning of September, and personally I found the beach a bit too crowded, even though the quota was limited to "only" 250 people. There were certainly more people there anyway 😅
The path is very rocky in places, so sturdy shoes are recommended.
The paths are marked and direct access to the bay is provided by a wooden staircase.

Only by boat or after a long hike and a good 500 depth meters is the Cala Goloritze
to reach. Very beautiful bay with bizarre field formations and super clear water.
It is advisable to take a lot of water, the return journey is very exhausting.

Cala Goloritzè is a Jewel of the coast of Baunei and of all Sardinia, proclaimed a National Monument, it is a true paradise on earth. The sea is full of shades ranging from turquoise blue to an intense blue that leaves you breathless.

The rock needle is very impressive. Definitely worth the walk down to the beach. However, one should keep in mind that the way back, steadily uphill, is very strenuous.

Beautiful bay, with clear turquoise blue water. I walked the path myself during the summer holidays. The many Italians you meet were a sign for us that we were happy with this beach. Fortunately we have good weather, but I would be careful with the effort on the way back with temperatures of 30+ degrees. The path itself is doable, don't worry about it. There are so many people walking without walking shoes and they all come back up again.

Tip: take extra water with you, if necessary a bottle from the freezer that stays cold for a long time. Furthermore, they allow a maximum of 150 people on the beach where you buy a ticket at the start of the walk. You can make a reservation for this (online).

If you are looking for a hike that will reward you with breathtaking views, then Cala Goloritze is just the thing for you. This bay, hidden on the coast of Baunei in the Gulf of Orosei, is a true paradise and is one of the most impressive beaches in Sardinia.

                    Getting there:
Cala Goloritze can be reached either by boat or on foot. The hike offers you the opportunity to experience the impressive nature up close. However, keep in mind that it is a challenging descent of a good 500 meters. The path winds through bizarre rock formations and after about an hour leads you to a beach of fine white pebbles and sand, surrounded by turquoise blue water. The way back is more strenuous and can take up to 1.5 hours.

                    Tips for the hike:

Take at least 1 liter of water per person. Even more in warmer temperatures.
Good hiking shoes are a must!
A maximum of 150 people are allowed on the beach every day. You can reserve a ticket online in advance to ensure you get access.
When you return, a nearby restaurant invites you to linger and enjoy.
                    Special features of the bay:
Cala Goloritze was formed by a landslide in 1962 and today boasts a natural arch and a 143-meter-high pinnacle that rises majestically above the bay. This beach was declared a "Natural Monument" of the Sardinia Region in 1993 and an "Italian National Monument" in 1995. Motorboats are not allowed to approach the beach to protect it from pollution and too many tourists.

                    Impressions:
The view of the white limestone cliffs that stand out against the intense blue of the water will quickly make you forget the strenuous walk. Here in Cala Goloritze, the heritage of nature mixes with human attentiveness, which makes the place so unique. Many Italians you meet along the way will confirm that you are in the right place.

The way back and forth is a real mountain hike. Good 500 meters you have to climb. The bay is very small but super romantic.

Beach again easily accessible. Bathing is wonderful, even if the water is quite fresh in May. Approximately 17 degrees. Still pretty empty around noon.

Unique and beautiful bay! The white limestone rocks and the blue water with the coarse pebbles are really gorgeous!

The necessary walk is very exhausting and it is really recommended to take enough water and reasonably good footwear to wear.

For climbers, the rocks also offer some nice spots.

Cala Goloritze is a beach that is located in the town of Baunei, in the southern part of the Gulf of Orosei, in Ogliastra, Sardinia.

                                Cala Goloritzé.
The beach, one of the most evocative of Sardinia, was created by a landslide in 1962; it is famous for its high pinnacle of 143 meters above the cove. Another feature of the beach is the natural arch that opens on the right side of the bay. The beach is composed of small white pebbles and sand.

Goloritzé can be reached by boat, or by a path that from the Gulf reaches the cove, with a vertical drop of 470 meters and about an hour and a half walk. Currently (summer 2007) the coast near the beach (200 m from the shore) is completely closed to traffic of motorboats to preserve the beach from pollution and from the assault of tourists. To get to the beach by sea, the most comfortable and less demanding, available transport services are rental boats from the nearby ports of Arbatax and Santa Maria Navarrese (frazione of Baunei).

Goloritzè was declared "Natural Monument" of the Region of Sardinia in 1993, and then named "Italian National Monument" in 1995.

Cala Goloritzé is one of the stops on the Selvaggio Blu (Sardinia) trekking route.
