Hiking

Grand Duke Ludwig II inherited the park and buildings from his father in 1830. Since a cholera epidemic had broken out in Western Europe at the time, the son used the property as a retreat for himself and his family. The property was quickly expanded for this. Most of the buildings in the castle were built in log construction with vertical posts, some of them two-storey.
