From the north you can reach the plateau of Pfaffenstein the fastest way over the bottleneck. The path consists of about 600 unevenly high steps and is so narrow in its upper section that no two people can find space next to each other. Also, the 1897 developed path towards the end is so steep that the climb must be made on permanently installed iron ladders. You pass through a horizontal, quite narrow rock hole - just a needle eye.

In the west, however, the so-called "comfortable way" leads upwards.

With a heavy backpack or a child on your back, it gets adventurous. Otherwise, this is really a nice tour.

Exciting ascent with a lot of variety and z. B. For children well feasible and little boring.

For hikers with dogs, this climb through the end of the ladder and the narrow passage is not recommended.

Is really a bottleneck - but fun

The name does justice to the rock column. :) It feels like being in a bottleneck.

The stairs, rock bridges and ladders are always something special, as well as the bottleneck. It's getting damn tight ...

The ascent through the bottleneck to Pfaffenstein I find the best and safest option. It's just fun to climb the stairs.
    Pure Adventure.

Not suitable for hikers with animal attendance, as a (steep) metal ladder must be overcome - without that there is an alternative. The dog must therefore be able to be carried (and you should then also create the ladder with one hand). With us it worked - but our dog weighs only 8kg and knows it already;)

A narrow pass with an iron ladder on the ascent / descent from the north side of the Pfaffenstein. The backpack can ever get stuck.

A real highlight on the descent from Pfaffenstein. Please take off the backpack - because with a backpack you get stuck. :)
