The Karolinenhöhe in Rieselfelde was fed with urban wastewater from Spandau for more than 100 years - from 1896 to 1998. The contaminated sites are correspondingly high, so development is out of the question. The former trickle fields have been designated as a landscape conservation area since 1987.
