As part of a former monastery complex, the listed monastery church of St. Jakobus now functions as a parish church. Not only is it a beautiful building from the outside, but you can also admire some treasures inside, such as the wrought iron Rococo grille from 1752 and choir stalls from the middle of the 14th century.

Not far from the federal highway 51 between Dülmen and Buldern lies the former Carthusian monastery »Marienburg« in the farming community of Weddern. The only branch of the Carthusian order in Westphalia was founded in 1476. Until 1803 it was inhabited by the "silent monks". The founding is based on the foundation of the knight Gerd von Keppel, who bequeathed his castle, together with the associated possessions, to the order. Prince Bishop Heinrich Graf von Schwarzenburg confirmed the foundation in a document. Saint Bruno of Cologne is venerated as the founder of the Carthusian order.
