The Bulderner See is also called "Samson Lake" by the locals after an old farm on the peninsula. The groundwater lake was created in 1977 by removing sand for the construction of the nearby Autobahn 43.

The Buldernersee was created in the 1970s while excavating soil (sand) for the A43. The locals also call it Samson Lake after an old farm on the peninsula. The lake is divided into two smaller lakes. The smaller lake is reserved for the protection of nature, while the larger part to the east is open for surfing. A whole round of the lake is about 2.5 km long. There is also a large gravel parking lot.
