Reddish, Woodley, Portwood
A very hot day, so tried to keep the hill climbs to a low level. Past experience has taught me that the bramble gets out of hand this time of year and the secateurs that I've invested in came in very handy. Although cutting a way through some of that…

Marple to Portwood
Got the train to Marple, then down to a scenic walk along the Goyt towards the Roman Lake then cut across to the Peak Forest Canal to lock no 16 . Around lock 13 and 14 we saw them being worked by a single man running backwards and forwards opening…

From the border Reddish to Compstall over Wernerth llow
A 10mile hike along a path that's getting overgrown with the summer bramble in places. Taking an easier path up Wernerth Low Road to reach the top today as it was a hot day (see an earlier version of this for a greener route). It's worth the effort of climbing…

Reddish Vale W'low Romiley Portwood
Across Reddish Vale, Peak Forest Canal, W'low, not all the way to the top, we wanted to finish before it got too dark. Due to the heavy rain recently, heading to Wernerth Low there were a few really muddy patches.

Reddish to Manchester avoiding traffic
Just a simple walk without car fumes and dodging traffic. We went bowling and wanted to avoid the crowds attending the Pride parade, so the the last part of the route isn't along the canal to Castlefield

Nice trip along the Loop, through Southern Cemetery, Didsbury then along the Mersey to the Crown. After a few beers got the 42A back to Reddish.

Reddish, Woodley, Romiley to Portwood
Some narrow paths where a stick would be handy - not so much for the walking but to push the brambles and nettles away from the path.

Reddish - Chadkirk Chapel Garden - Portwood
There are some nice even tracks with only a few muddy places and not too much tarmacked road. Some hills to climb, not too steep. A canal, two rivers (3 if you carry on to the Mersey). Chadkirk Chapel Garden might not be the best in the world but is…
