HieronYmus (H.B.) and Grüner Blitz went for a bike ride.

Endlich wieder in Italien!

Today, a first trip to the Vosges Mountains.
Before that, another trip to the Rhine plain – on the Velo-Radweg No. 5.
The Colmar-Mulhouse route is busy. Now in August, there are many cyclists out and about, carrying heavy panniers, including families on bike camping trips. It all feels very right.

We cycled through the vineyards to Colmar. We mostly cycled on good paths, often even on the official, well-signposted cycle route. Despite the high season, there was absolutely nothing going on until just before Colmar. We were completely alone. Which is quite surprising, given the views and insights.

Just in time for our first Tour d'Alsace, the skies open and summer arrives.
Then there are few places better to be than here.
The short climb to Jungholz alone evoked memories of our Alsace hikes around the turn of the millennium. When we then entered the Rhine plain, happiness was complete. Best of all

A summer day in the Black Forest.
Off to Freudenstadt in the morning, not for the State Garden Show, but to breathe in the mountain air.
First, enjoy the morning breeze through Black Forest villages and their hills and valleys. Then, with verve, descend into the Glatt Valley. And continue, in the summer

The second longer cycling trip of 2025. This time, we're heading to the center of Germany.
Starting just outside Backnang, through Swabian countryside past Nassach toward the Löwenstein Mountains.
At some point, we climbed the Schweineberg. With luggage, that was the limit of acceptable gradients. And

Today was all about relaxing. So, just a short trip to Soulzmatt. It's a truly beautiful place. Right at the beginning, there's a small stream with some great exercise equipment. Some really cool exercise equipment. It's simply fun to work out unused muscles along the way.
