The cat stays at home and takes care. The dog really wants to come along. If the bike keys rattle, sleep is over quickly. Even at the age of 15 you want to see if there is still an area. The air is mild, hardly any wind. The smell of rapeseed ... Lots of cyclists are out and about. Distance because of Corona ... in some places ... Tired of ... carelessness?
The fruit blossom and the rapeseed blossom are overwhelming.

It starts early today, 26 ° C are announced, the wind increases during the day, gusty up to 50 km.
We drive on mostly asphalt but also gravel paths to the Warmsen moor camp.
Lunch break with delicious provisions such as red lentil curry with cumin, grapes, tomatoes ... and of course a boiled egg.
Then we drive approx. 1.1 km to the nearby observation tower in Warmser Moor. The cotton grass is still in bloom and offers wonderful views. Slowly the peat moss closes off wet areas and forms new "moor". Overall, the area is rewetted after peat is extracted.
Another detour today leads to the landscape lake in Uchte. There we experience the Gans family conquering the world for their offspring.
In Huddestorf ... tractor or transformer?

Let's see what the apple blossom says ... Last year we were able to bring delicious red apples from the hike and even store them longer. Apple pancakes, puree or cake ... always works.
From Husum-Siemeringhausen across the forest to Bolsehle ... You drive a bit on the forest path hiking trail ... Both paths, pond path and forest path .. are for us rather paths that you can cycle well, but boring. You are often very straight on gravel roads ... in the forest. From Bolsehle to Schneeren ... a bit hilly, but unobstructed views ...
Schneeren, an old pristine village that is dressing up more and more, almost every house ... street😉
In the direction of Steinhuder Meer you can see the peat mining Neustadt am Rbge from afar, unfortunately ...
Through dry moorland ... the Steinhuder Meer ...
Kiebitzohrdamm, a bumpy asphalt stretch, but nice lookouts ...
The dark cloud in front of us drives us to drive faster. The "old mail route" got some gravel spots, some sand holes have disappeared.

Spring on the Lönsweg ... tender green sprouting ... the bumblebees are buzzing in the "Benjes hedge". It was planted 8 years ago by a school class to compensate for a built-up area.
The path around the Heye lake is varied between forest, heather and sand. The lake was created because sand was needed for industrial glass. It's a shame that the area is littered again and again. Camping is actually forbidden, but staying on private property is tolerated.

A walk around the village ... You have to inspect what has happened: trees are in bloom, hedges have been cut, there is still a lot of sowing and unfortunately a lot of spraying. Hopefully the Boskop Wegrand apple blossom will bring a lot of yield, just like last year. The puree still tastes good in apple pockets for on the go.
Unfortunately, the gravel area is increasing ...
The tour is absolutely "Corona-free" - hardly a soul.

Almost too late to marvel at the beauty of the cotton grass in the bog. The moor pad is always a new experience. From the "Big Lookout Tower" we could see about 50 cranes today.
The tour is very varied and offers a variety of nature. Blossoming plants or the chirping of birds, hum of the bumblebee ...

Cold, light wind, sunny ... an easy afternoon tour to the "Insel Schluesselburg". Island because it is bordered by the Weser on one side and the lock canal on the other. The route can be shortened as desired or extended to approx. 13 km. Again and again, the most varied views into the distance can be a pleasure, you can let your thoughts run free and enjoy pure relaxation. Actually a deserted area, sometimes you meet an angler near the water. Cyclists rarely ride here because the ground is mostly pebbled. The start is usually the pilgrim house on the outskirts, because there are conveniently located parking spaces. The castle and the church are close by. Castle, church and pilgrimage house can be welcome motifs on the hike. The development of the village and settlement can be traced from the location of the streets and paths. At the castle you can find out all the information you need.
