About Chuck Reed
I'm a 56-year-old cyclist who tries to squeeze in an adventure where I can. Cranking as many miles as I can with a knee replacement, I'm looking to see how I can manage my aging body as I train for the next adventure. I'm hoping to inspire others as I push myself for one more mile. Bikepacking is my passion, as I seek to see the world 1 mile at time!

Started cold as the overnight temps got as low as 43 degrees as we camped at Alum Creek State Park. Pretty cool to see the full blood moon 🌙. Our awesome ride came to unfortunate end due to broken bracket on his bike rack. Luckily this happened 2 miles from our destination. And just like that our

Today was our kick off to a ride across Ohio. Starting at the Ohio River and ending at Lake Erie. For this ride we knew it was going to be a challenge due the lack of training but here we go. This was going to be my first event but Chuck's 5th attempt.

What a day for a ride! Was able to achieve my highest miles of 115! (187 km) I was a bit nervous about my knee replacement. It held up fine. A great day for a ride 🚴‍♂️

Put in Bay has lots to see from the winery to the strip of bars and restaurants. There is plenty to do and see. Most people tend to travel by golf carts while on the island 🏝

So, on a whim, we decided to take a quick trip to Put in Bay. We rode our bikes to Sandusky and took the Jet Express ferry ⛴️

By the time we got to the island, we had a few hours to set up and make dinner. The boat trip was refreshing as the weather was very warm. Stars at night were exceptionally bright off the lake.

What a perfect day for a ride! The lake was very calm today with lots of boats out. We spent some extra time in downtown Sandusky as we grabbed dinner at the Barrel House Saloon. Nice to see the new lights downtown just in time for July 4th!!

Finally, a day to ride! Late start only allowed a shorter trip. Glad to be on the road. Nice to see the North Coast Inland Trail upgrading some of the segments.
