A Moorland Adventure A day out with my brother in western Wicklow 😃 The weather was cloudy and dry, mild for the time of year. We hiked 3 small mountains, which involved a very steep first ascent up through a forest and lots of navigating through peat hags and boggy puddles on the higher sections. The second summit, Moanbane, had a post marker that sank almost completely in the summit pond. 😄 We also saw a herd of white-tailed deer up on the moorland. On the third summit, Black Hill, there were good views down to Poulaphuca Reservoir. On the descent, we visited a memorial stone for a 1940s air crash. However, there was no crash debris. The route off the hill was a bit confusing as a few signs for private property gave conflicting information. We ended up fighting through some high gorse bushes to get down! Back down at the road, we had good, slightly elevated views of the large reservoir. There was road bashing to do (and it wasn't flat!) However, we still finished before sunset. A quick pint at the Lake View Lounge in Ballyknockan followed. We then stopped off at the West Wicklow House in Blessington, where we had some excellent post-hike pub food. This place is highly recommended. 😋 All in all a very enjoyable day out with my brother. Looking forward to more next year. As for the specific route, I would recommend clear, dry weather to get the best out of it.

Waterfalls, Forests and Big Views!
An Easter Monday walk with my brother around Glenbarrow. This is a very underrated area in the Slieve Bloom Mountains in County Laois. There is a good sized free car park at the start, with a takeaway café selling tasty snacks and sandwiches.

Muddy Nunatak Mini-Adventure!
A rare but very enjoyable outing with my brother to explore a special rock formation in County Sligo. Apparently Ben Bulben is a nunatak (hill or ridge within an ice field - I struggled to find the ice 😄). This has given it a some very interesting faces, with individual
A relaxed amble around the beautiful Torun Old Town with my brother on a warm Sunday afternoon, including a visit to the Planetarium for a screening on the night sky. 🌌
High In London!
A mini-tour of central London with my brother on a grey November day. It was a nice mixture of sightseeing, 🗼 pints and good laughs! 🍻
There were plenty of highlights including The Shard, Golden Hinde, Old Thameside Inn, London Bridge, Great Fire Monument, Walkie Talkie, Tower of London
A Grey Day In LA
A leisurely stroll around Venice Beach and Santa Monica before our return flight. We stopped for coffees / juice and pastries at Cielo Café. The weather was quite overcast and the temperature a bit cooler than previous days.
Although it was not as busy as it often gets, there were still
A Mexican & A Californian
A loop walk from Santa Barbara beach front to the Sandbar pub on the high street for a Mexican-themed dinner and some drinks. 😋 (We found a better route back to our hotel, via the Hotel California(n)).
Yachts, Palm Trees & Flying Dolphins
A leisurely stroll along the beautiful beach ⛱️ front area at Santa Barbara, including a stop at Rusty's Pizza Parlour 🍕 before checking-in to the very nice Beachside Inn.
Mountain Lions - No Joque!
A short pitstop to stretch the legs enroute to Santa Barbara. We took a walk up a short forest path with warnings of mountain lions and potential rockfall to a sliver of a waterfall on a rock face. Fortunately, we did not experience either lions or falling rocks. The weather
So jealous of your Guinness and grub. I used to love a pint and a pie. Gluten free these days. Great pics.
