Copper Mine Hill Exploration!
Following our roadside trig bash and lunch, we went for one more trig point. This one actually involved a walk and some steep ascent!
Parking in a layby near Swainsley Tunnel, we walked around the base of the hill, then turned sharply uphill to the very impressive, castle

The Sultans of Spring! 🌷🪻🌼
A lovely short walk with Becky on a spring afternoon around a quiet area in Derbyshire. However, it packed a lot of punch! We saw a hermitage, abbey ruins, cute horses, a windmill and visited a really nice café with its own trig point 😄 Not to mention lots of early spring

Winter Sun in the Peak District ☀️
This was Becky's first Peak District outing in a good while. We were lucky to have a glorious afternoon, the weather was almost autumnal. The walk up from Grindleford to its station led to the start of Padley Gorge. This is a beautiful woodland walk along a cascading

Triple Dale Ramble
A pleasant afternoon outing in the White Peak with Becky. We started in Hartington at the Beresford Tea Rooms where we got chatting with some friendly firemen.
A country lane led to the start of Biggin Dale. This was pleasant although the path was a bit rough. We turned into Wolfscote

A drizzly wander with Becky around Gdansk's Old Town before going to the airport. Even in the rain, this is a lovely place to walk around. We got some photos of the colourful buildings, the Neptune monument and stopped in a few souvenir shops en route.

This was a combination of a gentle stroll around Torun's Stare Miasto (Old Town), including the city walls and a short jaunt on a cruising boat on the Vistula River. The weather was fine and it was all very relaxed with several stops for food and sightseeing. 😃 I enjoyed the peacefulness of a city where

End of the journey to Torun: a walk from Torun main train station across the Vistula River to Copernicus Apartments in Torun Old Town. A long day overall! 🥱

Gorge-ous Views!
Another fine Ethel-bagging adventure with Becky. 😊
Starting at the top of Winnats Pass, we headed on the high route at the south side of the gorge. This location has stunning views of the gorge, ridges, caves and into Hope Valley. I intend to return here for a sunrise walk!
We continued

In Bloom 🌺🌼🌻🪻⚜️🌷
An extensive walk around the centre of the Peak District, covering 4 hills (3 Ethels, 2 trig points).
Although the hills are not the most popular, we still met plenty of people at some places along the route. Thankfully much of it was quiet.
Once again, Becky captured some lovely

Crich on a Hike!
A Friday afternoon walk with Becky in the Derbyshire Dales, just south of the Peak District.
It was a pleasant route, starting with an easy* first trig point at Crich Stand near the memorial tower.
We then wandered down to the Cromford Canal, which was very serene and had lots of flowers

Living on the Edge
A long-planned walk with Becky across two of the longest edges in the Peak District. It was a relatively familiar route, the only section we hadn't done before was from Fairholmes car park up to Back Tor on Derwent Edge.
This route is approximately the first half (in distance) of the

A Big Hole
A pleasant half-day outing with Becky to see Gaping Gill from the pretty village of Clapham. We parked in the car park (£5.50 all day, takes card). There is some parking available on the street, but it's quite narrow.
The route is scenic with the Ingleborough Estate Nature Trail (£2.50 each

The Witches' Hill
A pleasant late-afternoon walk with Becky in the serene Forest of Bowland. We first had a drink and snack at the Pendle Inn, Barley (a fine pub).
Then we headed off on what turned out to be two walks in one. The first, up to Pendle Hill, famous for the Witch Trials. After walking on

Emotional Rollercoaster! 🎢
A Monday adventure with Becky to Lantern Pike. Our starting point at the Little Mill Inn was a key highlight, in my opinion it's the nicest pub in the Peak District!
We planned to do a loop up to Lantern Pike, around and down to the pub. The path up was relatively straightforward
