Walked a marathon in London (but not THE London Marathon), as part of the Ultra Challenge series of events. (The photos inside The Oval cricket ground are because that was the base for the event - i.e. the start, the finish, and the halfway point for full marathon walkers.)

The term "classic" is, of course, subjective, but it's my old favourite local training walk, to Yeovilton and back, this time ahead of the marathon-distance London Winter Walk in 10 days. Could've done without the heavy drizzle at the end! The weather forecast was annoyingly accurate. But I did have my brolly on me.

There's this YouTuber that did a video about Britain's "weirdest city", that city being Milton Keynes. He walked right through the heart of it, from the north-east corner to the south-west corner. I was intrigued, so I decided to follow in his footsteps.

My second attempt at finding hidden treasure in the woods; same outcome as the first (no money found), but without the excruciating near miss this time. A route packed with hunters, as expected, being a Sunday - lots of families out there. But there was a silver lining to my disappointment: bumping into the lovely @Grace twice.

My intrepid search for one of 32 cash prizes (1 × £1,000; 1 × £500; 30 × £200) hidden on the two dedicated Treasure Hunt routes sadly ended in disappointment, despite looping one of the routes 3 times. I infuriatingly missed one (likely a £200 win) by literally 5 seconds, as a lady that just happened to be looking in the same area as me at exactly the same time as me nabbed it just before I did - I could still see it in position just before she took it. I was left cursing my rotten luck for the rest of the afternoon!

@Grace: Thanks for the like. 🙂 If you like this (that I've only planned and haven't done yet), hopefully you'll like this harder route (that I HAVE done, last week, with lots of photos) that I don't think you've seen yet: komoot.com/tour/2472652770

If at first you don't succeed, try 3 times! After 2 failed attempts in years gone by when the autumnal weather was simply prohibitive, I got it done at last! What I wasn't prepared for, however, was the up-to-39% descent from the summit of Cribyn. But I survived!

Not really a hike as such, but still worth documenting if only for the photos. No seal sightings, sadly. (Part of my week-long tour around the entire coast of Wales.)
