Here is a superb last stage, quite short, which brings you to the end of the GR 49 in Rougon. You come out of Trigance and quickly arrive on a very pleasant steep path. You pass the hamlet of Entreverges and take a balcony path overlooking the Grand Canyon du Verdon. It’s just beautiful! I suggest you take a little detour here to go to the Rancoumas belvedere, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Verdon gorges. You overlook the river in a setting of grandiose cliffs. It’s wild and rocky, and we’re really eye-catching.You quickly find the GR and begin your descent towards the Tusset bridge, a pretty arched bridge which allows you to cross the Verdon. I suggest you take a little detour again to go to Point Sublime Bely, from where you once again enjoy an exceptional view of the Verdon gorges. You return to the Point Sublime car park, where you find the GR, then start your last climb. You arrive a little later in Rougon, where you end your hike. Perched at an altitude of 930 meters, Rougon is a splendid village in the heart of the Verdon gorges. Dominated by its ancient fortress and offering incredible views of the Verdon gorges, it is truly the highlight of this superb GR! From Rougon, the ZOU! will take you to Aix-en-Provence and Arcs-Draguignan SNCF stations, from where you can easily leave for many destinations.
