A peaceful ride in the North of Lincolnshire. Time spent mainly on rural roads with major destinations of Newsham Bridge (leading to the site Newsham Abbey) and Thornton Abbey. The return leg offers the river bank side Ancholme Valley Way before crossing to Castlethorpe and the village of Broughton. After riding up the High Street a path through the woods leads to Raventhorpe and then a protected cycle path return along the A18 back into Scunthorpe.
The route could easily be adapted to begin in Messingham, Scawby, Broughton or Brigg to completely avoid the A18.
