Exposed, thrilling, and ridiculous at times. Grade 1 scramble with drop-you-off-your-feet views and a few character-building moments thrown in. Go on a calm, dry day.
*What to Expect:*
The Scramble: Mostly solid rock with amazing exposure. The bit that got me was *one smooth rock section* — it wasn’t wet, just a big reach for my height. I couldn’t pull up from below so I pushed against the rock behind me and shoved myself up. Awkward, but it worked. Take your time and use what’s around you.
The Wasp Incident* 😂: Only one wasp, but he picked me. He started buzzing around me mid-ridge. I tried to run... remembered there’s a drop... stopped. Then I just stood there with the wasp crawling over my sunglasses. Closed my eyes thinking “if I can’t see him, he can’t see me” 🤪 T-Rex arms, quiet scream, then announced to everyone like breaking news: “I’VE BEEN ATTACKED BY A WASP! "My boyfriend and other walkers were in stitches. 10/10 for entertainment, 0/10 for dignity.
The Descent: Steep and loose. I *rockboarded* down — physics hack. Small rocks lock together under your boots and act like brakes. Weight back, heels in, and let the rubble hold you. Way easier on the knees and you don’t fight the hill.
Kit and Fuel:
Boots: Proper boots are non-negotiable.
Sun cream: Ridge = no shade.
Food: Hearty, protein-rich food to keep you going.
Drink: Plenty of liquid.
Essentials: Sour crunches — always in my snack kit. They’re magic on steep bits.
Tips-
Short people like me: bring your problem-solving brain for the tall moves. Don’t run from wasps on ridges. Start early to avoid queues on the narrow bits. If it’s windy, save it for another day.
