About Pam

I originally come from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 but moved to Germany when I was 17.
I lived and worked for Lufthansa ✈️ in Germany 🇩🇪 till I took early early retirement and moved to South Africa 🇿🇦 in 2016.
I love wildlife 🐘🦒🦓 and anything to do with the outdoors. 🥾🎒🚴‍♀️
As water is so scarce here in SA 🇿🇦 I’m amazed at all the dams, so I’m constantly looking for new ones to visit. 🌊
I have a YouTube channel for anyone who is interested in short wildlife videos 📹 under pam zirkel.
I’m hoping to get back to Germany when this Covid thing calms down and would love to hike with some of my followers. My email address is pamelaz@t-online.de if there are any questions…..

After shopping for the Christmas Boxes 🎁 again all morning yesterday and then school and center 📕📒 all afternoon, I was looking forward to a short walk/run 🏃‍♀️ before sunset 🎇.
Unfortunately the alarm 🛎 in my house wouldn’t switch off so till that was sorted it was too late to go as it starts getting dark 💫about 18.15 just now!
I gave up and just had a GnT 🍸 on the deck instead 😂

Once again I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who transferred money to me via PayPal during the day.
I am absolutely speechless about your support and I am infinitely grateful.
It is a lot of work to get something up and running, but always feasible when there is so much help.
These orphans really hardly have anything and are thrilled to have their own toothbrush and new underwear!
Thank you thank you thank you!!

I would like to thank you very much for the support from Germany.
These orphans really have nothing and are really happy about their gift.
The gift includes a toothbrush, toothpaste, washcloth, soap, 5x underpants, 3x socks, T-shirt and a small toy.
      I am overwhelmed by the kindness and willingness of you to support me. ♥ ️ ♥ ️ ♥ ️ ♥ ️

What an amazing day here today!! The thermometer hit 40° with wall to wall sunshine!!! Shame the Dam is not overflowing anymore but it’s still beautiful scenery there. ☀️☀️☀️

After a full-packed elephant morning in Kruger 🐘, I came home to do some school work for the coming week! 😔
You’ve got to be kidding!!! 🤪
With this stunning weather, I just couldn’t stay at home ☀️☀️☀️
A quick sundowner 🍸 at the now dry Guinea Fowl Dam 😟 and no doubt a rather late go-to-bed tonight.
Still to get everything ready for school, at least for tomorrow! 🙄

As the Phalaborwa Forever Resort is rather small and we’ve got such stunning weather, I thought I’d take you all on another Game Drive through part of Kruger National Park.
Don’t worry they’re not all wildlife photos, I’ve added some of the dry river beds to show you just how desperate Africa is for water. During the summer months, October till March, if we’re lucky with a lot rain, all gravel roads in Kruger are closed.
This is because most of the gravel roads cross over rivers and streams, which are then flooded.
Last summer we we were exceptionally lucky, our first year of good rain after 7 years of drought.
All the rivers in Kruger were flowing and all the dams were full.
As winter has now been and summer is just around the corner, all the animals are dependent on the larger dams, which still have water and on the waterholes that are pumped.
It’s been a stunning day with 18 different mammals and lots more different birds, I stopped counting them 😉
I hope you enjoy my post as much as I enjoyed my day and maybe, just maybe, I might persuade some of you to put Kruger National Park, Sough Africa on their bucket list for a holiday in the not too distant future.
