A truly challenging hike up the Pania della Croce, the "Queen of the Apuan Alps". The path is extremely well marked throughout, especially towards the peak where the terrain gets extremely rocky and Alpine and a clear path wouldn't be visible otherwise. The way down after the peak is very steep and should be done slowly and with care, but it is doable as a hiker without any particular equipment. The rifugio Rossi is a great resting space before the final push and the views at the top are some of the best you will find in this part of the world. With breaks at the rifugio and for resting, this trip can easily take between 8 and 10 hours, even though the time displayed on the tour says otherwise.
