Extratour Museumstour – Wandern in der Rhön
Rhön planned a hike.
January 1, 2010
You should plan the varied and information-rich museum tour as a full-day excursion. In addition to the 20-kilometer route and a few meters of altitude through a cultural landscape characterized by smallholder farmers, there is a lot to learn in the museums along the way.It starts at the parking lot of the Franconian open-air museum in Fladungen. It is worthwhile to have a look here right at the beginning. The museum shows you impressively what rural life looked like in the romantic half-timbered houses and the typical village church around 300 years ago. If you are here at the right time, you can also take a trip on the historic Rhön-Zügle. The train runs between Fladungen and Mellrichstadt 20 days a year.If you have been able to quench your thirst for knowledge, it goes out of Fladungen towards Oberfladungen. This is where the extra tour meets the Friedensweg, which leads you to the Black Moor. An old watchtower and a piece of border fence still stand there today. Several information boards provide information about the former inner German border and life on both sides. The Berggasthof Sennhütte is ideal for a stop. You continue hiking with great views, past the old Huflar manor, to the Heimatblick and the Friedenslindenbank. When the weather is nice you can see from the Rhön to the Thuringian Forest. After a short break you are already on the way back to the starting point in Fladungen.
