Small gastronomy right on the lake. Nice seating overlooking the lake. Drinks and food are not overpriced. Optimal location to take a break.

Trail Reviews

PeterH65 (a.k.a. "Waldorf")
March 27, 2022, Biersdorf am See: Stausee-Prümtalroute (Naturwanderpark Delux)

https://www.wanderinstitut.de/premiumwege/rheinland-pfalz/stausee-pruemtalroute/ The path was laid out in a very balanced way through varied forests and open fields and, in addition to the idyllic Prümtal and the Bitburg reservoir, also offers many geologically interesting sections and numerous impressive views. https://www.naturwanderpark.eu/wanderwege/a-stausee-pruemtalroute On wondrous paths through the Prümtal - hiking on the reservoir Prümtal route in the NaturWanderPark delux... The water glistens in the sun, a fountain shoots up in the middle of the Bitburg reservoir in Biersdorf and pedal boat riders enjoy their ride in the sunshine. The start of the circular hike around the reservoir-Prümtal route is like strolling along the edge of the river. Another look at the anglers who are trying their luck and hoping for a magnificent trout. Then the Eifel hiking tour goes into the sweeping valley of the Prüm, into the barren landscape of the Isleks. In front of the hikers, the many small wonders along the way are revealed, waiting to be discovered. There is the "Hermitage", a pretty chapel in the woods near Wiersdorf. Many years ago the hermit Jakob Leisen lived here, looking for leisure and inner contemplation. After a few meters of altitude, another world reveals itself surprisingly behind a bend: the view falls on the magnificent medieval Hamm Castle. Here there is more of a colourful, happy hustle and bustle when the wedding couple say yes and celebrate with their guests. But there are many more wonders to be discovered on the path besides the magic of love. Numerous medicinal herbs grow along the path and the rugged rocky landscapes with their inclusions millions of years old tell their own story. And then it's there again, the reservoir, surrounded by an enchanting forest landscape. Directions: Biersdorf reservoir car park 50°00'35.5"N 6°26'38.9"E

We started at the Bitburg reservoir. The weather was sunny with a few fair-weather clouds. We walked around the lake and then climbed up to a bench with a view of Hamm Castle, which we didn't get to see up close on this hike. We continued uphill, following narrow paths with lots of vegetation. Some sections were overgrown, and we regularly checked ourselves for ticks. This was definitely necessary. It was strenuous, and we were sweating buckets. There were benches, but not many, and most were in the tall grass. When we reached the Prüm River, we took a short break at the "kissing spot" and made the most of it. Then we climbed back up over a very dilapidated bridge. We had a view over the entire Bitburg area before heading back down to the reservoir. We bypassed the last steep section down. This was our first time using hiking poles. It took some getting used to, but we're already noticing the advantages when going uphill and downhill. The new hiking boots and socks were fine too... We'll see if I actually take them all with me on the Wickow Way. There were some blackberries to snack on along the way. Finally, we treated ourselves to an ice cream or beer at a lovely inn overlooking the lake. Maybe it's best not to hike it in the height of summer ;)

Wind and drizzle made the first tour difficult for us after a long time. A nice hike, but not for winter and I hate the wind. Today I was wearing a special hat and special pants. And what then always happens from afar? All three dog owners with free-running dogs that we encountered immediately put them on a leash.

The tour starts at the parking lot at the Biersdorf reservoir. This route offers everything a hiker's heart desires, and not just because of the many climbs. A striking attraction is the Bitburg reservoir with its water sports opportunities. The scenic Prüm Valley is characterized by beautiful meanders. The Hammer Büsch presents itself as an open hillside forest with a magnificent view of Hamm Castle. The Burbesberg climb is, in a sense, the highlight of the hike. The view from here extends to the Erbeskopf and Idarkopf mountains in the Hunsrück. We hope you enjoy the tour ☺️.

As the name suggests, the NaturWanderPark "delux" promises unlimited hiking fun in the Eifel/Luxembourg region. 24 circular hiking trails in premium quality have been developed in recent years in the Southern Eifel, the Luxembourg Ardennes and in the Müllerthal region - Luxembourg's Little Switzerland. Today's tour starts at the hikers' car park at the Bitburg reservoir and takes you on varied paths through the beautiful landscape of the southern Eifel. After the tour, a stop at Ferdi's boathouse is a good idea. https://www.naturwanderpark.eu/wanderwege/a-stausee-pruemtalroute

https://www.naturwanderpark.eu/wanderwege/a-stausee-pruemtalroute class 15km round. Beautifully varied, beautiful trails, beautiful forests, great views of the Eifel. Great view down to Hamm Castle. Signage 1A. I can only recommend.

Today we did another one of the Nature Hiking Park deluxe tours. In beautiful sunshine, we took a long loop from the Biersdorf reservoir through the forest and over the hills near the Prüm Valley. The trail is well signposted, but we took two short wrong turns, but luckily we realized it pretty quickly. At the beginning of the trail, there's actually a detour to the hermitage, but we skipped it. At the Weitblick leisure area, I would have liked to have had a sketchbook and a soft pencil with me to trace the two reliefs (see photo). Overall, a beautiful and varied route. Unfortunately, there are also many dead, partially and completely fallen trees along the way...
