The trail begins peacefully along the Artelbach stream before gradually ascending through the Schwantal valley and leading you deeper into the forest. Here, the focus is less on wildflowers and more on the depth of the woods: mossy ground, structurally diverse beech stands, and surprising clearings along the way.

At Harsberg, sweeping views open up to the Thuringian Forest, the Rhön Mountains, and the Hoher Meißner. Narrow paths and natural forest trails characterize the rest of the hike. The Wolfsschlucht gorge awaits you as a particularly atmospheric final section.

Unfortunately, the Wolfsschlucht gorge somewhat detracts from the overall impression of the trail. In some places, fallen trees make normal walking impossible. This section definitely needs improvement to provide a well-maintained path for older and younger hikers.
