This route was planned by komoot.
Only half of the route is really beautiful and that's right from the start. The closer you get to Büdingen, the worse it gets. From cobblestones probably from Roman times to very muddy. In addition, the route marking is often not clear. I don't have to do the tour again.
Today one way FFM-Büdingen via Hohe Strasse. Comfortable, not fast, with plenty of time to chat. Interesting: from Hanau there are fewer and fewer bikes on the road. This is probably due to the fact that the rather comfortable asphalt is replaced by gravel and dirt roads. All in all, a very nice tour with a lot of panorama - without too steep climbs. Short and sweet here and there. End point: Büdingen old town. Always beautiful. However, many cafes are closed due to the floods in spring. The train connection back via Gelnhausen is hourly and very good. From Büdingen on we were the only ones with bikes. From Gelnhausen onwards we were much more crowded when it came to the use of bikes.
after hearing so much about the high road, but not having been there yet, I unfortunately set off again much too late to explore it. Luckily I only had to walk a kilometer to the nearest bike shop due to a flat tire. There I got myself a new rim tape. I have to say that the tour was first class. Since it was already quite late, I took the train back to Frankfurt from Büdingen via Gelnhausen. From Frankfurt main station I then continued by bike to HG. Originally my plan was to cycle the entire distance. If I get out of bed sooner, I will repeat the tour Thanks for the tip "high road"
